Intuition

I have had it really strong lately. Holy crap. Today, I was thinking about one of my favorite clients at the salon. I have a huge, harmless crush on him. I googled his name and found his twitter account. Just as I was about to click "follow", the phone rang and IT WAS HIM CALLING TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT!!! What the eff???

Then.... a scenario I have pictured for a long time actually happened. I was going for a run around the reservoir today and was wondering if I would ever run into BDB. No joke, not even a full 3 minutes after I thought that, we passed each other on the sidewalk!!!! Let me tell you.. AWKWARD. It was about as awkward as the time we slept together, if not more. Neither of us hugged each other, he didn't remove his sunglasses, and then after we smalled talked about bullshit, we parted ways and he gave me the ever so dreadful, "I'm sure we'll see each other around" line. Wow. How did it get to that point?

And I have been thinking about Thom lately too. I bet I will run into him as well. In fact, I am sure I will this Saturday seeing as how we both have rsvped to the same party. I can't even imagine what that will be like? I'm thinking he will flat out ignore me. We'll see.....

I didn't realize I was still in high school...

...Oh wait, I am just at a hair salon in Beverly Hills. Today I had something happen to me that sent me over the edge. I had a co-worker say something so inappropriate and humiliating to me right at the front desk, right in front of several co-workers. I held my ground, but later went to my car and cried. I felt like I was time-warped to beyond high school. 6th grade maybe. It's a slap in the face for a few reasons, but I work so fucking hard for the stylists. I bend over backwards trying to please their clients. I want them to get booked, to make money. I try my hardest to book these people solid. I genuinely believe this person is an amazing colorist and book him new clients upon my high recommendation. And for what?? My pay stays the same, no matter how much bullshit I deal with. I, however, am a huge part of their income and lavish lifestyle. And to make me feel like complete shit? How do you sleep at night? I don't know if I am being overly sensitive, but if there is any fucking driving force to get me out of there and into a world I want to be in, then maybe this is a blessing in disguise.

2 things

1. Everyone here is crazy. The Beverly Hills clients are fucking bonkers and I can't take it much longer.
2. I take back most of what I said about the billionaire in my previous post. Today he ordered an amazing catered lunch for the entire salon staff to say thanks for putting up with the wedding drama.

J Brand Blues

The salon is buzzing with everyone's Memorial day weekend stories. It's funny because my weekend juxtaposed with the glamorous Beverly Hills wedding that most of my co-workers attended seems so country and backwards and that is the way I like it!

I sent one best friend off to Missouri to start a new life and wished happy birthday and happy engagement to another best friend. Lauren's boyfriend flew in Friday morning and we went to dinner Friday night and Saturday we packed Lauren's life up and reduced her belongings to whatever could fit in a Scion. Funny how Miss Lauren knew for 2 months that she was moving across the country, yet didn't have a thing packed til the day she was leaving!! I absolutely adore her boyfriend and seeing a side of her I have never seen and seeing her so happy was such a great thing. The parting wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I cried a bit, but I can be really good a suppressing my feelings if I try really hard. So either that is working out or it hasn't hit me yet...

After seeing Lauren off, I drove to my parent's house, hung out for bit, then went off to Sheryl's birthday dinner with her parent's and some friends. It was so much fun. Sheryl's parents are like a second family to me. They are so welcoming and nice. I crashed out early that night. Right after dinner. Went home, sat on the bed, cat on my lap and fell asleep fully clothed. Sunday my wonderful mom let me go on a shopping spree on her dime to stock up on stupid house supplies because for some reason spending money on dish soap, a toothbrush and toilet paper is the bane of my existence... That evening I headed over to Sean and Sheryl's house for a graduation party for Sean. He is now a doctor of pharmacy! Congratulations!! What a huge accomplishment! The party was amazing. I saw so many old friends and I just remember the good 'ol days hanging out at that house when I was 14 or so. Anyhow, we partied all night, took a billion pictures, ate loads of Mexican food, got in a minor cake fight, finished a bottle of Patron in no time, played a short-lived game of Apples to Apples, and I got dragged down a carpeted staircase by my drunk friend which left me with carpet burn marks on my arms and legs :(

So I had to pick up my boss this morning on the way to work. He left his car at the salon over the weekend. He told me about the wedding of the daughter of one our billionaire clients that was the talk of the town for months. It has taken the salon by a storm. Bridal trials, bridesmaids, mother of the bride.... The wedding was held at their 45,000 square foot house that overlooks Mulholland drive and their home is more equipped than the White House. Whatever you desire, you just make a call and it's at your disposal in mere seconds. My friend needed a power strip and it was brought to her brand new in a box within 15 minutes. It's like they had a CVS in their basement... So the billionaire is an unattractive, short, balding man, but he has a revolving door of young women that he wines, dines, buys them cars, clothes, shoes, fucks, and discards. He sends his assistants out to find woman for him. I see them all because he sends them here to get their hair done. I look at these woman and I really try to understand how they can let someone use them and buy them off. I was telling my boss this and he was explaining it to me that when someone is buying you $800 shoes and $15,000 shopping sprees, you are going to feel sexy and sex is a mental thing anyway....blah blah blah. I would like to think that I have more self-respect and self- worth than that and my humbled upbringing will keep me grounded if some fat fuck is offering to buy me a Mercedes...Maybe I am too idealistic and
naïve?? I mean, don't get me wrong. I like nice things. I would spend every cent on shoes and traveling if I could, but to compromise my ideals for those things...not. going. to. happen.

And my favorite pair of jeans has a hole in the knee. This is directly related to them being my favorite pair and I wear them if not every other day, then everyday.

I love:
Cream cheese frosting
Really high heels
Surprises and romanticism.
Fresh flowers
Sleeping the whole night through

You have so many things in the background that you're supposed to do, there's no room left to think. I say, forget all that and ask yourself, "What's the simplest thing that could possibly work?"

Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt

In the sea of monotony that is my job at the hair salon, I have been working on the side and it's spicing things up. One of my friends became the director of an art gallery/venue in Echo Park. It's called Bandit and it's a really amazing space. In addition to the Gallery, there is a great patio outback with a stage, a bar, and a BBQ. I work the door, bar and sometimes my friend lets me suggest artists or musicians to feature. For some reason working there is really fulfilling. I have always loved music, art, and people so maybe it's the merging of all 3 that is most exciting? Or maybe it's the distraction it gives me from still trying to figure out what I want to do...?

I haven't blogged in awhile. There is much to catch up on. Most exciting first! I finally bought my tickets to Australia!! Right before I clicked "purchase" I was was thinking, "what the fuck am I doing? Flying to the other side of the world on a whim and staying with a random band I befriended. Who does that??" Yeah, I do. Click. I will be there in 4 months. I have a really good feeling about this trip. And I *need* to see the 12 apostles while I am there. I am a little obsessed about it. I feel like it will be really spiritual and awe inspiring. Look at the photo...How could it not be?

Second bit of excitement. The British Invasion. A few weeks ago I was waiting for the bus to go to Bandit. There was a guy at the bus stop who asked me how often the bus comes... Even though I knew it was a bullshit question, we got to talking. He is from England and was on his way home to meet up with his British friend that was visiting. I invited them to the gallery for a party. I didn't actually expect them to show up, but I am really glad they did. Met the British friend and fell into a whirlwind British romance. I mean, I really don't even know what to say. I feel like this is a movie. Strapping British man is by far the most attractive, charming, humble, funny, down to earth person I have ever met. And for some ridiculous reason I will never be able to fully grasp and fathom, he was interested in me. We hung out for the next 4 days and it was pretty amazing. Let me just say, the bar has been raised. Good luck anyone in my near future trying to win my affections... but alas, snapped back into reality when he flew home. He was here a month and I only had the pleasure of spending the last few days of his holiday with him. He lives in another universe as far as I am concerned. Thank god for skype.

I have some more to say. About Jeff's memorial and Lauren Marie Compass. Can't sort through it yet. To be continued.....

Writers block

Fuck me. I have a lot on my mind, but no clue how to write it eloquently or cohesively.

Ritz crackers and Trader Joe's potstickers for a midnight snack
